WOMEN’S HOOPS FALLS TO CANISIUS, 64-37

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Candace Williams (Norfolk, Mass.) tallied her second consecutive double-double for the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team, but a 20 point effort by Marie Warner for Canisius College allowed for a 64-37 Golden Griffs victory at Lundholm Gymnasium on Saturday evening.

Williams led the team in scoring with 11, and rebounding with 12, for her third double-double of the season. Racheal Fowler (Glassboro, N.J.) chipped in with seven points, all during the second half of action.

The Griffs, led by Warner with 13 points, tallied 35 points in the first half on 36.4 percent (12-33) shooting from the field. Williams tallied eight of her 11 points during the first half for the Wildcats.

Every Wildcat player that entered the game scored for New Hampshire, including Jill McDonald (Middlebury, Vt.) who had five in the game.

Brittanie Russell notched 19 points, on 7 of 10 shooting from the floor for the visiting Griffs. Warner and Katie Hart pulled down nine rebounds apiece to lead the Griffs, who pulled down a total of 47 boards in the contest.

The Wildcats will travel to Louisville to face Morehead State (Dec. 28), Morehead State (Dec. 29) and host-school Louisville (Dec. 30).
