WGIN-AM 930, WGIP-AM 1540 NOW FLAGSHIP STATIONS FOR UNH WILDCAT SPORTS NETWORK

DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire announced today that Wildcat Sports Properties has added WGIN-AM 930 (Rochester) and WGIP-AM 1540 (Exeter) as flagship stations on the Wildcat Sports Network, joining WGIR-AM 610 (Manchester), which was added last year.  All three stations are part of the Clear Channel family, and this change will go into effect at the beginning of the 2009-2010 athletic season.

These three aforementioned stations – along with WUVR-AM 1490 (Lebanon), WNTK-FM 99.7 (New London) and WCNL-AM 1010 (Newport) – will carry the following:  all UNH football broadcasts, men’s hockey broadcasts, football and men’s hockey weekly coaches’ shows, a select number of men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s hockey broadcasts, as well as “Wildcat Sports Today”, a three-minute daily update concerning UNH athletics.

“We’ve experienced significant growth with our Wildcat Sports Network since Learfield Sports has become our partner, and we know it’s been well-received by our fans and alumni,” said University of New Hampshire Athletic Director Marty Scarano.  “The relationship with Clear Channel Radio already has proven to be tremendously successful, and we’re pleased to have everything in place at the start of this new year.”

“Having UNH Sports as part of the WGIR Radio Network is a great fit.  It is only natural to include WGIR Radio Affiliates WGIN-AM  and WGIP-AM in this exciting venture. WGIR, WGIN and WGIP has a long history of serving New Hampshire and this will only enhance that ability,” said Joe Graham, Market Manager of Clear Channel Radio in Manchester.
