CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman guard Kelsey Hogan (Nashua, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, was honored as Rookie of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks by the America East Conference Monday afternoon.
Hogan, who takes home the honor for the third time this season, finished the week averaging 11.0 points, 2.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in a pair of games that the Wildcats split. She shot .353 (6-for-17) from the floor, .444 (4-for-9) from beyond the arc, and .750 (6-for-8) from the charity stripe.
The redshirt-freshman point guard led New Hampshire to a convincing, 67-47, road victory over Maine (Jan. 26), registering 15 points, two boards, two assists and one steal. She finished the contest 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from deep. Later in the week she tallied seven points, two assists, one rebound, one steal and one block against Boston University (Jan. 29).
Hogan is averaging 8.3 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game this season. Her assist total (84) and three-point percentage (.413; 31-75) both rank second in the conference. Additionally, she has scored in double-figures in three of the last five games. In total she has finished in double-figure points in six contests this year.
Hogan and the Wildcats are back in action Thursday, Feb. 3 (7 p.m.) when they return home to take on the University at Albany at Lundholm Gymnasium.
