Women's Basketball Announces 2011-12 Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Head coach Maureen Magarity and the University of New Hampshire women's basketball program has released its schedule for the upcoming 2011-12 campaign. The Wildcats will play 12 home games in 2011-12 as part of a 28-game schedule that features a full America East Conference slate and contests against Seton Hall, Iowa State, Rhode Island and in-state rival Dartmouth. 

New Hampshire opens the season with a road game against non-conference opponent Brown on Nov. 11. From there, the Wildcats kick off home action on Nov. 16 when they welcome Big East foe Seton Hall to Lundholm Gymnasium. UNH rounds out the month with three straight road games, visiting Cornell on Nov. 22, Central Connecticut State on Nov. 27 and Dartmouth on Nov. 30. 

Following the road trip, UNH heads back to Durham for a three-game homestand, featuring tilts against Holy Cross on Dec. 3, Harvard on Dec. 6 and Manhattan on Dec. 9. UNH then heads down to the Ocean State to face Rhode Island on Dec. 18 looking for a repeat from last season when the Wildcats downed the Rams, 88-74, in a triple-overtime thriller at Lundholm Gymnasium. 

After a visit to Wagner on Dec. 21, the 'Cats will take part in the Iowa State Tournament on Dec. 29-30, opening against the host Cyclones in a tournament that also features the New Jersey Institute of Technology and the University at Buffalo. 

The Wildcats tip off America East action with a pair of tough opponents, first visiting last year's regular season champion UMBC on Jan. 2, and playing host to the 2011 conference champion Hartford on Jan. 5. Following a home game against Albany on Jan. 11, the Wildcats play three out of their next six contests on the road. The 'Cats will travel to Vermont (Jan. 14), Boston U. (Jan. 19) and rival Maine (Jan. 25), and will host Stony Brook (Jan. 16), Binghamton (Jan. 22) and UMBC (Jan. 28).

New Hampshire opens the month of February with a pair of road tilts against Hartford on Feb. 1 and Albany on Feb. 8. From there, the Wildcats play three of their final five games at home, taking on Vermont (Feb. 11), Boston U. (Feb. 15) and Maine (Feb. 22). During the stretch, the 'Cats will also travel to Stony Brook on Feb. 18 and Binghamton on Feb. 25.

The 2011 America East Tournament will begin on March 1. The University of Hartford will serve as hosts for the third straight year, with all games taking place at the Chase Arena in West Hartford, Conn.
