Women's Basketball Announces Three Summer Camps in June
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball program has announced that it will hold three camps in late June at UNH's Lundholm Gymnasium, the home of Wildcats basketball. The Women's Basketball Day Camp is June 25-28, the Women's Basketball Shooting Camp will be June 26 & 28 and the stretch of camps concludes with the Wildcat Elite Weekend from June 29–July 1.
UNH second-year head coach Maureen Magarity directs all three camps, and assistant coaches Mike Roux and Kristen Linderoth serve as assistant directors. UNH women's basketball players will also be camp staffers.
Day Camp, which is open to girls entering grades 2-9 in Fall 2012, will be held daily June 25-28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $175 per camper with a non-refundable deposit of $100 due by June 1. This camp will provide fun-filled instruction and emphasis on the fundamentals of basketball as well as basketball concepts, team practice and games, daily lectures, drills and skill stations. Beginning players will receive instruction in basic techniques, rules and sportsmanship. More experienced players will be challenged in skill development and competition opportunities.
Shooting Camp, which is open to girls entering grades 6-12 in Fall 2012, will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 28. The cost is $75 per camper with a $50 deposit due by June 1; there is a family reduction of $10 per child for families registering more than one child for this camp. Shooting camp will provide fun-filled instruction with focus on the basic mechanics of shooting – correct hand placement, footwork and technique – as well as attack moves and cuts.
Wildcat Elite Weekend, which is open to girls entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2012, is June 29 through July 1 at a cost of $375 per overnight camper and $325 per commuter camper and includes a free Nike reversible jersey. Airport pickup and drop off is available for an extra $20 each way. This camp is designed for high school-aged athletes who wish to be part of a strong athletic and academic environment. Campers will receive specialized individual instruction from UNH head coach Maureen Magarity and her Wildcat staff. Time will also be devoted to strength and conditioning training – utilizing the state of the art Jerry Azumah Strength & Conditioning Center.
