DURHAM, N.H. –– Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.), a freshman goaltender on the University of New Hampshire wome’s ice hockey team, was named ECAC/Louisville Rookie of the Week on Monday. Carisa Zaban (Glenview, Ill.), a senior center, made the ECAC Honor Roll for the week.
Huggon recorded a 1.50 goals-against-average and a .945 save percentage over the weekend, which included a 3-1 win at Providence College and a 2-1 loss at Northeastern University. The rookie made 22 saves vs. the Friars and a career-high 30 saves against the Huskies.
On the season, Huggon has a 5-1-0 overall record with a 1.27 GAA and a .942 save percentage.
Zaban scored only one point over the weekend, but that point was recorded when she netted the game-winning goal at Providence. Last year’s Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award nominee leads the ‘Cats in assists (10) and points (17); she is second with seven goals.
UNH (6-2-0 overall, 4-2-0 ECAC) returns to action Dec. 4 at Niagara University. The next Wildcat home game is Jan. 1, 2000 against Ohio State at 7 p.m.
