CONNECTICUT AND QUINNIPIAC JOIN WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY LEAGUE

CENTERVILLE, MASS-The University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University have been extended membership into the ECAC Women's Ice Hockey League comprised of the University of New Hampshire, Boston College, the University of Maine, Niagara University, Northeastern University and Providence College effective for the 2000-01 season.

In May, the current ECAC Division I league voted to split into two separate leagues. Colgate, currently competing in the ECAC Division III league, will move to the Division I ranks starting in 2001-02 and will join a league comprised of Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, St. Lawrence and Yale.

The University of Connecticut, under the direction of head coach Heather Linstad, is in its first season of varsity play. The Huskies play their home contests at the 2,000-seat Connecticut Ice Arena.

Quinnipiac, also in its first year as a varsity program, is led by head coach Amanda Adams. The Braves play their home games at the Northford Ice Pavilion.
