New Hampshire women's hockey honored by ECAC

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire team was named Goaltender of the Week by the ECAC Eastern Women's Hockey League on Monday. It was the third time this season that Huggon won the award. She was also named Defender of the Week earlier this season.

Huggon recorded her fourth shutout of the season - and 11th of her career - in UNH's 1-0 overtime victory against the University of Connecticut that gave the 'Cats sole possession of third place in the ECAC East standings. She made 18 saves to earn the victory. Huggon stopped 34 shots in the team's 4-1 loss at Brown on Saturday. She made 25 saves through two periods to keep UNH in the game (2-1 deficit). The 34 saves is the second-highest season total.

Huggon has a 1.82 GAA with a .925 save percentage and a 12-9-2 record in 23 games this season.

For her career, the junior netminder has played in 78 games (4639 minutes, 1 second) and has a 43-33-2 record with a 2.11 GAA, a .919 save percentage and 11 shutouts. On UNH's career lists, Huggon is fifth in wins, second in saves (1,843), fifth in save percentage, fifth in shutouts, third in games played and second in minutes.

Huggon and her Wildcat teammates return to action Feb. 1 vs. intrastate rival Dartmouth College. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
