WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Lindsay Hansen (Northport, N.Y.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named Rookie of the Week by Women's Hockey East on Monday.
Hansen set up two of UNH's four goals in her collegiate debut, which was a 4-0 victory against the University of Vermont last Friday. With the Wildcats leading 1-0, she recorded her first career point with an assist on Debbie Bernhard's goal at 17:14 of the first period. Hansen's second assist came on an Allison Edgar tally at 6:59 of the middle stanza and extended the 'Cat advantage to 3-0.
By virtue of her two assists on even-strength goals, Hansen recorded a +2 rating. She leads the team in both assists and points (two).
New Hampshire (1-0-0) returns to action Oct. 18 at Ohio State University. The next Wildcat home game will be their Women's Hockey East conference opener on Nov. 2. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 2 p.m.
