New Hampshire women's hockey advances to No. 8

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team advanced one spot to No. 8 in this week's USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll. UNH held steady at No. 9 in the Poll that was released Monday.

The Wildcats improved to 7-0-0 with a weekend series sweep with 5-1 and 1-0 victories against Maine. It is UNH's best start since the team won the national championship in 1998.

New Hampshire garnered 31 points to tie Providence College for eighth place in the USA Today/AHM Poll. The Wildcats remained No. 9 in the poll with 33 points. PC is eighth with 39 points.

UNH and Providence are the highest-ranked teams from Women's Hockey East.

New Hampshire returns to action Nov. 8 at St. Lawrence University. The next Wildcat home game is Nov. 16 (7 p.m.) against Princeton University .
