UNH's Hansen and Caleo honored by Hockey East

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Lindsay Hansen (Northport, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was named TPS Player of the Week by Hockey East and linemate Lindsey Caleo (Clinton Township, Mich.) earned the ITECH Rookie of the Week honor, the league announced Monday.

Hansen recorded eight points with two goals and six assists in UNH's 7-0 and 7-2 victories against Boston College last weekend. She established career highs in both assists (four) and points (five) in Sunday afternoon's 7-2 victory. Her lone tally of the game gave the 'Cats a 1-0 lead and BC never pulled even thereafter, and she registered a pair of assists in both the second and third periods. Hansen had a goal and two assists in Friday's 7-0 win. In addition to her eight points, Hansen compiled a plus/minus rating of +7.

Caleo recorded her first career hat trick with three goals, including the game-winning tally, Sunday vs. Boston College and finished the week with four points (3-1-4) as she also had an assist in Friday's victory. In Sunday's game, Caleo gave the 'Cats a 3-0 lead in the second period and struck again 4:55 later to increase the advantage to 5-0 and help UNH break the game open. She had a plus/minus rating of +4 for the weekend.

Hansen's eight-point outburst vaulted her to the top of UNH's points list with 22 on nine goals, which ties her for the team lead, and 13 assists, which is tied for second. Her 1.22 points-per-game ranks 20th in the nation.

Caleo has recorded a point in five consecutive games and is one of eight Wildcats who have reached double digits in points with 11. She has five goals and six assists in 22 games.

New Hampshire (12-7-3) returns to action Jan. 31 at home against Providence College. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 2 p.m.
