BOSTON - Melissa Bourdon (Ile Bizard, Quebec) made 27 saves to record her second shutout of the season and Carolyn Gordon (Petrolia, Ont.) scored two goals to lead No. 7 University of New Hampshire to Saturday afternoon's 5-0 Hockey East victory against Northeastern University at Matthews Arena.
UNH, a 4-2 victor against the Huskies on Thursday, extended its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) and is 6-2-2 overall as well as 3-0-1 in Hockey East. Northeastern is now 6-3-2, 0-2-1.
Bourdon, who has two shutouts in three games, made 15 of her 27 saves in the first period and is 3-0-0 on the season. NU goalie Katy Augustyn finished with 30 saves.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission with a pair of late power-play goals. Stephanie Jones (Kimberley, B.C.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 10:48, then Gordon, with the assistance of Jones, gave the 'Cats a two-goal lead with 1:18 remaining in the opening stanza.
Gordon produced the only goal of the second period with an unassisted tally at 5:37.
Lindsay Hansen (Northport, N.Y.), who missed the previous four games due to injury, gave the Wildcats a 4-0 lead at 15:36 of the final frame and Lindsey Caleo scored her first collegiate goal with 2:29 remaining to close the scoring. She also set up Hansen's tally to finish with a career-high two points.
UNH, which recorded a 35-27 shot advantage, finished the game 2-for-7 on the power play and NU went 0-for-6.
Kristen Thomas (Wilmington, Mass.) finished with two assists for UNH. Debbie Bernhard (Acton, Mass.) and Allison Edgar (Brigden, Ont.) each had one assist.
UNH returns to action Nov. 25 (7 p.m.) at Brown University. The next Wildcat home game is Nov. 30 vs. third-ranked Harvard University. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 2 p.m.
