UNH women's ice hockey sextet earns academic honors

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Six student-athletes on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team were named to the Women's Hockey East All-Academic Team, the league announced Tuesday. The league honored a total of 60 players who recorded a grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher in each semester of competition during the 2004-05 season.

Junior goaltender Maghan Grahn (Roseau, Minn.) is the only Wildcat who is a repeat honoree. She was also on the 2004 All-Academic Team. The five first-time Wildcats in 2005 are sophomores Brittany Busa (Concord, Mass.) and Nicole Hekle (Winnipeg, Manitoba) as well as freshmen Nicole Goguen (Truro, Nova Scotia), Diana Saly (Edina, Minn.) and Jessica Zerafa (Mississauga, Ontario).

New Hampshire (21-8-6 overall, 13-3-4 Hockey East) finished the regular season in a first-place tie atop the league standings.
