WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Six student-athletes on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team were named to the Women's Hockey East All-Academic Team, the league announced Tuesday. The league honored a total of 60 players who recorded a grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher in each semester of competition during the 2004-05 season.


Three Wildcats named captains of 2005-06 squad

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey program honored eight student-athletes and paid tribute to the Class of 2005 at the team's annual banquet, which was held earlier this month. ORONO, Maine - Nicole Hekle (Winnipeg, Manitoba) recorded three points with a goal and two assists to lead the eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team to Saturday afternoon's 5-2 Hockey East victory against the University of Maine at Alfond Arena.


The Huskies lost their fourth one-goal game since the holiday break. This time it was No. 8 New Hampshire giving NU a 2-1 loss. Crystal Rochon scored the Huskies goal in the opening seconds of the third period, and Marisa hourihan tied her own school record, saving 57 shots. UNH's Jackie Wedster scored the game-winner 8:24 into the third period.
