WAKEFIELD, Mass.- Senior Melissa Bourdon (Ile Bizard, Quebec) of the University of New Hampshire was named Hockey East’s ITECH Goaltender of the Month for February on Thursday. It is the second time in the 2006-07 season that Bourdon receives the award; she received the same distinction in October.

In seven February games (all Hockey East contests), Bourdon compiled a 6-0-1 record with a 1.13 goals-against-average, .923 save percentage and two shutouts. On February 11, she recorded a month-high 22 saves in a shutout victory at Providence College. Bourdon went 2-0-1 against nationally ranked teams (1.62 GAA) and recorded back-to-back road shutouts against Northeastern University and Providence. The road shutouts were part of an overall shutout streak of 180:25, the third longest streak of her career.

One of the highlights of the month for Bourdon included becoming the NCAA’s career leader in victories (84) at the University of Vermont in the last regular season game of the season on February 25.

This season for the Wildcats, Bourdon has posted a 20-3-4 record and .907 save percentage. Her GAA currently stands at 1.53 and she has started in all 27 games in which she has played. On November 14, she was named’s Defensive Player of the Week.

In Bourdon’s career at UNH, she has amassed an 84-18-11 record, .917 save percentage, 1.60 GAA and has started and played in 116 games. She is the UNH record holder in career wins (84) and shutouts (29). The 29 shutouts are also a NCAA career record. On the UNH all-time list, she sits in second place in both GAA (1.61) and minutes (6782:36) and is third in saves (2,012). As a freshman, Bourdon was awarded the UNH Rookie of the Year and named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. She has been named ITECH Goaltender of the Month a total of five times in her career.

UNH returns to action in the Hockey East postseason tournament in a semifinal matchup against University of Connecticut at the Whittemore Center on March 3 at 12p.m.
