WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Kayley Herman (Weyburn, Saskatchewan), a freshman goaltender on the No. 1 University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team, was named Mission Rookie of the Week by Hockey East on Monday. Herman has received that honor once each month for a total of four times this season.

Herman went 1-0-1 in two games last week with a 0.96 goals-against-average and .952 save percentage. She stopped 22 of 23 shots, including all 12 in the third period, to backbone UNH to a 3-1 road win against ninth-ranked Dartmouth College on Jan. 17, then recorded 18 saves in a 1-1 tie vs. Providence College on Jan. 21 to keep the ‘Cats undefeated (10-0-1) in league play.

            In 22 games (21 starts) this season, Herman is 18-2-1 with a 1.15 GAA, .935 save percentage and four shutouts. She currently leads the nation in wins and second in GAA as well as fourth in both save percentage and minutes (1305:09). Herman is 9-1-0 with a 1.61 GAA and .921 save percentage in 10 games vs. nationally-ranked teams this season.

            Herman was also bestowed the Mission Rookie of the Week award Oct. 8, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17. Her other Hockey East accolades this season include ITECH Goaltender of the Month (December) and Mission Rookie of the Month (November).
