WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Jenn Wakefield (Pickering, Ontario), a freshman forward on the second-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team, received the Mission Rookie of the Week award from Hockey East for the second consecutive week on Monday.

Wakefield recorded two goals and two assists for a total of four points to lead UNH to victory against Boston College (4-1) and Maine (5-0). She also compiled a +2 rating in both games to finish at +4 for the week.

On the road against nationally-ranked BC, Wakefield gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead early in the first period, then set up what proved to be the game-winning goal later in the stanza. She closed the game scoring with another tally late in the third period. The two goals and three points matched her single-game highs.

At home vs. Maine, Wakefield assisted on the game-winning tally, which was scored just 12 seconds into the game.

In six games, Wakefield has five goals and three assists for eight points to rank No. 19 nationally in points per game (1.33), 18th in goals per game (0.67) and third in rookie scoring. She leads the team in both goals and points and ranks second on the team in shooting percentage (.179) as well as fourth in plus/minus (+7).

Overall, the UNH Wildcats have garnered a total of three Mission Rookie of the Week awards this season. Kayley Herman (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) received that distinction Oct. 8.

New Hampshire returns to action Nov. 1 (7 p.m.) at Boston University. The Wildcats’ next home game is Nov. 7 (7 p.m.) against Boston College, and it is the first of eight consecutive home games for the ‘Cats.
