COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kacey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.) and Sam Faber (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.), both seniors on the fifth-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team, as well as UNH associate head coach Erin Whitten Hamlen will attend the USA Hockey Women’s Holiday Camp in Blaine, Minn. From Dec. 26-31.

Bellamy and Faber are two of 58 hockey players who will be competing at the camp, which serves as a tryout and training session for the U.S. Women’s National Team and the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team. Whitten Hamlen will serve as an assistant coach for the Red team.

Bellamy, one of 20 defensemen at the camp, was a member of the U.S. team that captured the 2008 Women’s Four Nations Cup championship earlier this month. She was also on the U.S. team that won the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women’s Championship last spring. Bellamy’s other national experience includes U.S. Under-22 National Team in 2007 and 2008. The UNH captain has skated in all 13 Wildcat games this season and has recorded eight points (1g, 7a). In 121 career games, Bellamy has 22 assists and 65 assists for 87 points, which ranks ninth among UNH defensemen.

Faber, one of 32 forwards attending the camp, was Bellamy’s teammate at the ’08 IIHF World Women’s Championship. She was also a member of the U.S. Under-22 National Team in both ’07 and ’08. Faber has skated in all 13 UNH games and is tied for the team


lead in points with 16; she ranks second in goals (nine) and leads the nation in shorthanded goals with three. In 121 career games, Faber has amassed 73 goals and 89 assists for 162 points to rank 14th, seventh and 10th, respectively, on the Wildcats’ career leaderboards.

Whitten Hamlen (UNH ’93) continues her ties with USA Hockey as a coach. She was first on the bench as an assistant coach for the USA Select Team in 2006. She also served as an assistant with the 2006-07 National Team and with the inaugural U.S. Women’s U-18 Select Team in the 07-08 season. Whitten Hamlen was a four-year standout in goal for the Wildcats, and she went on to play for the U.S. National Team from 1992-97, 1999 and 2001 and was named USA Hockey Women’s Player of the Year in 1994. Whitten Hamlen joined the UNH women’s hockey staff as an assistant coach in July 2000 and was promoted to the position of associate head coach in July 2006.
