WOMEN'S HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD PRESENTED TO PATON
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Kelly
Paton (Woodstock, Ontario), a senior forward and captain
on the fourth-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s ice
hockey team, was honored Tuesday as Player of the Month for October
by the Women’s Hockey East Association.
Paton recorded a point in all nine UNH games in the month of October to finish with 15 points on four goals, including one game-winning tally, and 11 assists; those numbers calculate to 1.22 assists per game and 1.67 points per game.
She factored in 15 of the team’s 35 goals (43%) for the month, and in three games she had a hand in all of UNH’s goals.
In two Hockey East league games, Paton tallied one goal and three assists for four points. And in two games vs. nationally ranked teams, she recorded two goals and an assist for three points.
Paton matched her career high of three assists Oct. 18 vs. Niagara University. Paton’s other numbers in the month of October included a seven-game assist streak and four multiple-point games.
In 10 games this season, Paton has tallied six goals and 13 assists for 19 points to lead the team in all three statistics. She is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation in points per game (1.90) and sixth in assists per game (1.30).
New Hampshire (7-1-2 overall, 3-0-0-0 Hockey East) returns to action this weekend with a home-and-home series against 10th-ranked Boston University. The teams face off at BU on Nov. 6 and the two-game series concludes Nov. 7 at UNH’s Whittemore Center. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
