WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Lindsey Minton (Richardson, Texas), a junior goaltender on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named WHEA Defensive Player of the Week by Women's Hockey East on Monday. Minton received the same distinction Nov. 1.
Minton stopped 57 of 60 shots in two games last week to record a .950 save percentage and 1.52 goals-against-average. She made 28 saves against Dartmouth College, including seven on six DC power-play opportunities, to record her fourth shutout of the season and backbone UNH to a 1-0 victory on Dec. 11. Minton had double-digit saves in both the second (13) and third (10) periods against the Big Green. Earlier in the week, she made 29 saves, including 14 in the second period, vs. Harvard University.
In 14 games this season (all starts), Minton has a 7-7-0 record with a 1.64 GAA, .932 save percentage and four shutouts – all at home. In 45 career games, Minton is 28-12-2 with a 1.78 GAA, .919 save percentage and seven shutouts.
New Hampshire returns to action Jan. 9, 2011 at home against Northeastern University. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 2 p.m.
