WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Jenna Lascelle (Cornwall, Ontario), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week by Women's Hockey East on Monday afternoon.
Lascelle recorded her first career multiple-goal game with a hat trick against intrastate rival Dartmouth College at the Whittemore Center on Dec. 11, and the three points also marked a personal best. Her even-strength goals gave UNH first-period leads of 1-0 and 3-2, and Lascelle completed her hat trick by scoring on a penalty shot at 4:38 of the second period to tie the score, 4-4. She scored on her only three shots of the game and finished with an even rating in both of last week's games, which also included a Dec. 9 matchup at Harvard University.
Lascelle, who has skated in all 21 games, has recorded five goals and four assists for nine points. With those numbers, she is tied for fourth on the team in both goals and points, and her .179 shooting percentage tops the leaderboard.
Lascelle is the second UNH Wildcat to be distinguished as Hockey East's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week. Heather Kashman (Edmonton, Alberta) was feted on October 3.
New Hampshire (6-12-3 overall, 0-6-2 Hockey East) returns to action Jan. 10, 2012 (7 p.m.) at Boston College. The Wildcats then welcome the University of Connecticut to the Whittemore Center for a two-game series Jan. 13 (7 p.m.) and 14 (4 p.m.).
