BOSTON, Mass. - Christine Anneberg (Denver, Colo.), a freshman on the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, was named Rookie of the Week by America East on Wednesday.
Anneberg, a former star at Phillips Andover Academy, tallied five goals and assisted on another to record six points in three games. She netted a goal in her collegiate debut against nationally-ranked Dartmouth College, then scored two goals in UNH's decisive 12-0 second-half run at Davidson College (20-5 victory) on March 14. Anneberg also recorded an assist in that game to register a career-high three points.
Anneberg followed that effort with a pair of first-half goals against Massachusetts to give the Wildcats a 6-2 halftime lead that would not be relinquished. Anneberg entered the week tied for third on the team (and leads all rookies) in both goals (five) and points (six).
Wedensday night, Anneberg scored a goal in New Hampshire's 13-10 loss to 18th-ranked Yale University to extend her goal-scoring streak to four games. She now has seven points on six goals and one assist.
New Hampshire (2-2) returns to action March 23 against Vanderbilt University. The game, scheduled to be played in Durham, will be at Omni Turf Field on the campus of MIT. Game time is 1 p.m.
