CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Colleen Christopher (Newington, N.H.) scored a natural hat trick in the first 10 minutes, leading the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Sunday's 13-4 victory over Drexel University at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology's Omni Turf Field.
Jess Groszkowski (Reistertown, Md.) helped finish off the Dragons in the second half, as the Wildcats led 6-2 at halftime in their America East opener, scoring three of her four goals after the break. Christopher's first of three goals came 24 seconds into the game and gave the senior 100 points for her career. Christopher 17th Wildcat to reach the century mark.
Also scoring goals for the Wildcats (4-2, 1-0 America East) were Megan Mangano (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Christine Anneberg (Denver, Colo.) with a pair each, Molly Cherington (Meriden, N.H.) and Kelly Blaney (Stony Brook, N.Y.), who netted her first career-goal, scored one apiece.
Amanda Warren (Amherst, N.H.) had eight saves in net for the Wildcats, while Drexel's Shirley Sarker finished with 12 saves. The Dragons (0-4, 0-2) got goals from Katrina Rand, Suzy Gula, Laurie Bean and Jaime Connahan.
The Wildcats return to action Sunday, April 1 at the University at Albany. Game time is 1 p.m.
