New Hampshire lacrosse season opener postponed

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire athletic department has announced that the women's lacrosse season opener scheduled for March 3 against Dartmouth College at UNH's Memorial Field has been postponed.

On the morning of Monday, March 4, the schools will determine whether or not it is feasible to play the game later that day, either at UNH or Dartmouth. If that can not be arranged, there will be discussion of a date later in the season on which to play the game.

UNH, led by America East Coach of the Year Sandy Bridgeman, finished the 2001 season with an 11-7 record - the most victories since the 1991 team also had 11 wins - and advanced to the America East Championships for the fourth consecutive season. The Wildcats broke the school record for both goals (210) and points (281) in a season.

The next game on UNH's schedule is March 6 (4 p.m.) at Yale. At this time, the Wildcat home opener would be April 3 (3:30 p.m.) vs. Brown.
