BOSTON - Jessie Groszkowski (Reistertown, Md./Franklin H.S.), a junior attack on the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, was named Player of the Week by America East on Monday.
Groszkowski has recorded 12 points - all on goals - in four games this season. She has had a multiple-goal game in all four contests, including a four-goal effort against Duquesne University on March 17. In that game, she potted three first-half goals and her second-half tally tied the game 5-5 and ignited a three-goal spurt en route to a 7-5 victory.
Groszkowski opened the year with two goals in the season-opener at Dartmouth College and followed that with three-goal games against Yale and Massachusetts. Against UMass, she broke a 3-3 tie by opening the second half with back-to-back goals to give UNH a lead it would not relinquish in a 10-6 win.
Groszkowski, who recorded the eighth-best single-season goal total in UNH history last year with 42 tallies and earned America East All-Conference First Team honors, has career numbers of 76 goals and 11 assists for 87 points.
UNH, which has won two consecutive games to improve to 2-2, returns to action March 20 (3 p.m.) at Vanderbilt University. The Wildcats are scheduled to play their home opener April 3 vs. Brown University. Game time at Memorial Field is 3:30 p.m.
