BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, which is ranked 20th in the nation, is the top seed in the upcoming America East Championships and will host the tournament from May 2-4 at Memorial Field. UNH, which finished the regular season 11-5 overall and undefeated (4-0) in America East, opens the tourney May 2 in a one o'clock semifinal game against fourth-seeded University of Vermont (7-7, 1-3).
The second semifinal game, scheduled for 3:30 p.m., features No. 2 Boston University (6-10, 3-1) vs. third-seeded Albany (6-9, 2-2).
The semifinal winners will play in the May 4 championship game, which will also be played at UNH's Memorial Field. Start time is 1 p.m. There is no admission charge for the tournament.
UNH, which is competing in its fifth consecutive conference tournament and in search of its first title, defeated Vermont 21-7 in Burlington on April 5. UNH was a 13-9 victor at Boston University on April 17 and defeated Albany 16-2 at Memorial Field on April 20.
In the other semifinal matchup, Boston University recorded a 17-5 road victory against Albany on April 12.
