WOMEN'S LAX PICKED 14TH IN IWLCA PRESEASON POLL

BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, led by 13th-year head coach Sandy Bridgeman, has been picked 14th in the 2009 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Preseason Poll that was released Monday by the organization.

This marks the first time since 2005 that UNH has appeared in the preseason poll. That year, the ‘Cats were also No. 14.

UNH ranked 13th in the final IWLCA poll of the 2008 season. The ’08 Wildcats received an at-large invitation to the NCAA tournament and ended the year with a 13-6 record.

Sixteen letterwinners, including eight starters, return from last year’s team. The Wildcats boast three America East All-Conference First Team selections and three Second Team honorees, as well as two All-Rookie Team representatives, on the ’09 roster.

New Hampshire opens the 2009 season Feb. 22 at home against Bryant University. Game time at Memorial Field is 1 p.m.
