DURHAM, N.H.  – Sandy Bridgeman, 13th-year head coach of the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse program, has announced that seven student-athletes have committed to the UNH family for the 2009-10 season.
The group consists of: midfielders Heather Carr (Derry, N.H.), Amber Casiano (South Windsor, Conn.) and Chelsea Cyester (Parker, Colo.); defender Casey Doyle (Ivyland, Pa.); goalkeeper Kathleen O’Keefe (Chatham, N.J.); and attackers Jenny Simpson (New Canaan, Conn.) and Ally Stager (Reading, Mass.).

“We’re very excited about the quality and depth of this year’s recruiting class,” stated Bridgeman, a three-time America East Coach of the Year and UNH’s winningest women’s lacrosse coach.
Carr has lettered in lacrosse, field hockey and indoor track at Pinkerton Academy. She earned All-Conference Second Team accolades last year as a junior and led the Astros to the semifinals in both 2007 and 2008.
Casiano is a lacrosse and basketball letterwinner at South Windsor High School. Her 2008 accolades included All-America, All-State and All-Conference. Casiano led South Windsor to a conference championship in 2007 and she also garnered All-Conference that year. She received All-Conference honors in basketball as a junior and senior.

Cyester garnered 2008 U.S. Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention recognition and was also named All-State Honorable Mention last year. She was selected to the All-Conference team in both 2006 and 2007, and she was named the team’s Offensive MVP both of those seasons at Chaparral High School. Cyester’s other accolades include 2008 Vail U-19 Tournament All-Star and 2007 Gettysburg Tournament All-Star.

Doyle lettered in both lacrosse and field hockey at Council Rock North High School. She was an All-Conference First Team selection as a sophomore and junior, and she was a Team 1 Upper Atlantic Division honoree last year. Doyle is serving as team captain for the second straight year this season as a senior.
O’Keefe led Chatham High School to the county, sectional and Group 1 state championships in ’08. Her list of accolades was just as long and included County Final MVP, All-County Second Team, All-Conference Second Team and Team 1 Upper Atlantic Division.
Simpson was an All-State First Team selection last year at New Canaan High School. In 2007 as a sophomore, she was named to the All-State Second Team. Simpson, who was named to the Connecticut Super Junior Team in 2008 and garnered All-FCIAC First Team honors each of the last two years.

Stager lettered in lacrosse, soccer and basketball at Reading Memorial High School. She is the school’s all-time leading scorer and was named a Middlesex League All-Star in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In basketball, Stager was a Middlesex League All-Star and Eastern Mass All-Star as a senior. She was named the Middlesex League Goalkeeper of the Year last fall in soccer and was also an Eastern Mass All-Star selection.

New Hampshire is currently ranked 18th in the country with a 10-6 overall record. The Wildcats conclude the regular season this weekend and will make their league-record 12 consecutive America East tournament appearance in 2009.
