CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sarah Von Bargen (East Setauket, N.Y.), a senior attacker on the 14th-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was distinguished as Player of the Week by America East on Monday.
Von Bargen recorded nine goals and an assist for a total of 10 points in two UNH victories last week. In the 12-5 win March 4 vs. Yale, she scored a pair of first-half goals to lead the ‘Cats to a 5-2 halftime lead, then scored two goals in UNH’s six-goal spurt to end the game. Von Bargen also tallied a ground ball and two draw controls vs. the Bulldogs.
She matched her career high of six points (5g, 1a) March 7 at UConn. Von Bargen had a goal and an assist in the team’s six-goal run in the first half, then scored twice after the Huskies pulled within 7-4 to help push UNH’s lead to 10-4 en route to a 15-7 win.
In five games this season, Von Bargen has recorded 22 goals and three assists for 25 points to lead the team in both goals and points. She ranks No. 1 in America East in both goals per game (4.40) and points per game (5.00). Von Bargen has scored a goal in 17 consecutive games with 14 straight multiple-goal efforts.
Von Bargen has amassed 134 goals and 23 assists for 157 points in 55 career games. She is tied for sixth on UNH’s career goals leaderboard and is seventh in career points.
New Hampshire (4-1) returns to action March 11 (4 p.m.) at Harvard University. The Wildcats’ next home game is March 18 (3 p.m.) vs. UMass.
