NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine– Tristan Ramey (Anchorage, Alaska), a sophomore Nordic skier on the University of New Hampshire skiing team, has been selected to represent the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) in the USSA Junior National Cross Country Ski Championships, to be held March 9-16 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Ramey will compete for individual national titles and join 51 of NENSA's top juniors in seeking to defend the overall championship team title known as the Alaska Cup, which has held residence in New England for the past four years.
Ramey, who was the lone UNH women's Nordic freshman to compete at the 2012 NCAA Championships in Bozeman, Mont., will compete in four races during the week against nine other regions. Formats include a sprint race with heats, a classic and skate race and a team relay:
Monday, March 11 – Freestyle individual start
Tuesday, March 12 – Classic relay
Thursday, March 14 - Freestyle sprint
Saturday, March 16 – Classic mass start
The Wildcat sophomore and Alaska native raced in five Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Carnivals this season, with a season-high finish of 20th place in the 5K classic at Middlebury on Feb. 15.
