BOSTON - Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named Rookie of the Week by America East on Monday.
Best scored five goals in two games last week to become the first player in the history of the UNH women's soccer program to tally five goals in a two-game span. She now leads the team in goals (six) and points (14).
Best scored a career-high three goals, including the game-winning tally, in New Hampshire's 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Drexel University. She gave the Wildcats a 2-0 lead with goals in the 21st and 31st minutes and increased UNH's advantage to 4-1 at 50:50.
In the game against Dartmouth, Best scored in the third minute to give UNH a 1-0 advantage and her tally at 27:17 tied the game, 2-2.
Best and her New Hampshire teammates return to action with an Oct. 14 home match vs. Northeastern University. Game time at Lewis Fields is 1 p.m.
