BOSTON -- Ashlee Cieslak (Greendale, Wisc.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named Rookie of the Week by America East on Monday. It marked the second consecutive week that the honor went to a UNH Wildcat, as Jackie Whishoski (Malden, Mass.) was named the conference's top rookie Sept. 23.
Cieslak recorded a career-high three points with a goal and an assist in New Hampshire's 2-1 victory at the University of Rhode Island, which was ranked among the top teams in the northeast region last week. With UNH trailing 1-0, she set up Wishoski's game-tying goal in the 86th minute, then scored the game-winning goal with 49 seconds remaining in regulation.
Cieslak recorded her first career points one match earlier with a goal at Albany. She is currently tied for second on the team in both goals (two) and points (five).
UNH, which has won two straight to improve to 5-3-0, returns to action Oct. 4 vs. Boston University. Game time at Lewis Fields is 3:30 p.m.
