New Hampshire women's soccer falls to WVU, 4-0

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Sophomore Kambria Riggins scored twice to lead 10th-ranked University of West Virginia (2-1-0) to a 4-0 win over New Hampshire (1-1-0) in the first game of the James Madison /Comfort Inn Invitational Tournament.

Riggins got the Mountaineers on the scoreboard early, knocking in a rebound off UNH junior goalkeeper Liz MacKay at 1:07.

WVU got scores from senior Chrissie Abbott in the ninth minute and from junior Leslie Barden in the 30th minute to lead 3-0 at halftime.

Riggins' second goal was also on a rebound -this one off the post in the 63rd minute.

The Mountaineers outshot the Wildcats 24-5 but UNH had two good scoring chances. Freshman goalkeeper Lana Bannerman made a diving save on a shot by sophomore Jackie Wishoski in the sixth minute. A shot by junior Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.) on a breakaway in the 68th minute was tipped away by Bannerman.

UNH returns to tournament action on Sunday when they play the University of Richmond at noon.
