Chiara Best

BOSTON -- Senior forward Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team was named Player of the Week by the America East conference on Monday.

Best led UNH to a 2-0-0 week with conference victories against Binghamton University (3-2 in double overtime) and UMBC (3-0) as she scored five of the six Wildcats' goals. She matched her career high of three goals against UMBC with tallies in the 41st, 75th and 78th minutes. Best also scored the game-winning goal vs. Binghamton with a goal in the 104th minute and she had forced overtime with the game-tying goal in the 83rd minute.

The last of Best's five goals was the 31st of her career, which moved her into third place on UNH's career goals list behind Kimberly Boyle (35 goals) and record-holder Diane McLoughlin (38). Best is currently No. 4 on the career points list with 74.

Best has started all 12 matches this season and leads UNH in both goals (eight) and points (17). She has scored seven goals in the past four games.

UNH has won four consecutive games - the team's longest win streak since the 1999 team also won four straight - to improve to 6-4-2 overall and 2-0-0 in America East. The Wildcats return to action Oct. 8 at home vs. Boston University. Game time at Lewis Fields is 3:30 p.m.
