CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Sara Hourihan (Lynnfield, Mass.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was honored as the Division I Player of the Week by the ECAC on Tuesday evening.
Hourihan, who was named America East Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday, sparked the Wildcats' offense with three goals and an assist in two games at the ECAC Women's Soccer Classic, which was held at Cape Cod, Mass. last weekend. In the 3-0 win against Lafayette College, Hourihan scored the first two goals of the game and recorded an assist on the third tally to record single-game highs in goals, assists and points (five). She also scored the game's first goal in the team's 3-2 loss to Fordham University.
In five matches, Hourihan has four goals and an assist for nine points to lead the 'Cats in both goals and points. She also leads the team in game-winning goals with two, including the one vs. Lafayette.
New Hampshire (3-2-0 overall) returns to action Sept. 16 at home vs. Providence College. Game time at Lewis Fields is 4 p.m.
