BURLINGTON, Vt. - Kelly Martin, entering her 12th season as an assistant coach with the University of New Hampshire women's soccer program this fall, will be one of seven honorees inducted into the University of Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame this October, the University announced recently.


INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Debbie Newman (Union, Conn.), a senior co-captain on the 2005 University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, has been awarded one of 58 NCAA postgraduate scholarships that the organization awards to student-athletes who competed in a fall sport.

Newman named women's soccer Scholar-Athlete

BOSTON — Debbie Newman (Union, Conn.), a senior captain of the 2005 University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named the America East Scholar-Athlete for women's soccer and highlighted the list of 79 UNH student-athletes that were named to the 2005 America East Academic Honor Roll, the league announced Thursday. Of those 79 student-athletes, 38 received further distinction to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.


DURHAM, N.H. - Sara Hourihan (Lynnfield, Mass.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named to the Soccer Buzz Northeast Region All-Freshman Team, the magazine announced recently. Hourihan garnered Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie Team accolades from the America East conference in 2005.

'Cats advance to America East semifinal with double OT win

BOSTON — Sara Hourihan (Lynnfield, Mass.), the America East Rookie of the Year, scored a golden goal with 1:17 remaining in the second overtime session to lift the fifth-seeded University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to Friday afternoon's 1-0 victory against fourth-seeded University of Vermont in an America East Championship first-round match at Boston University's Nickerson Field.

Second honor for Sheehan this season

BOSTON - Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. Sheehan received the same honor Sept. 26.


Gonzalez-Medina lifts 'Cats with goal in 85th minute

DURHAM, N.H. — Adriana Gonzalez-Medina (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) broke a 1-1 tie in the 85th minute to lift the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to Sunday afternoon's 2-1 America East victory against the University at Albany on Senior Day at UNH's Bremner Field.


HANOVER, N.H. — Christina Ferraris scored three goals and Dartmouth College pulled away with four second-half goals to defeat the University of New Hampshire women' s soccer team, 5-0, in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference matchup at Chase Field.

Hourihan breaks 'Cat rookie record with game-tying goal

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Sara Hourihan (Lynnfield, Mass.) broke the school's rookie points record with a goal in the 73rd minute and it proved to be the game-tying goal as the University of New Hampshire played to a 2-2 draw in Sunday afternoon's America East women's soccer matchup against the University of Vermont at Centennial Field.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Julie Randall (East Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded four saves for her sixth shutout of the season and the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at the University of Hartford on Thursday night.


Smagula, Sheehan honored by America East

BOSTON - Lindsey Smagula (Bedford, N.H.) and Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team were named Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the America East conference announced Monday.


BALTIMORE, Md. — Lindsey Smagula (Bedford, N.H.) scored a golden goal in the 96th minute to lift the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to Sunday afternoon's 4-3 overtime victory against UMBC in the America East conference opener for both teams at UMBC Stadium.
