SERAFINE AND LUCEY NAMED 2007 WOMEN'S SOCCER CAPTAINS
DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire women’s soccer head coach Michael Jackson recently named seniors Caitlyn Serafine (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and Nicole Lucey (Keene, N.H.) as team captains for the 2007 season.

Serafine, who is a 2005 America East All-Conference Second Team member, was an assistant captain during the 2006 campaign. Serafine tallied two goals off penalty kicks last season at the defensive back position. She also scored a penalty kick in the shootout of UNH’s America East Quaterfinal win over Binghamton. Serafine started all 18 matches during the 2006 season and her on and off the field leadership will vie well for the eight anticipated Wildcat newcomers. She has posted three goals and an assist in her career.

Lucey started all 15 matches played in 2006 and contributed to the seven UNH shutouts at the defensive back position. She was presented the prestigious Student Athlete Award for having the highest grade point average during the traditional season of competition at the year-end banquet. Lucey transferred from Boston University after her freshman season and was named to the America East All-Rookie Team for her efforts. Lucey has been named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Academic Honor Roll and is the definition of what a student-athlete and captain should represent.

The Wildcats open the 2007 campaign with a visit to Burlington, Vermont. UNH faces off against George Washington in the first round of the University of Vermont Classic on August 31. Vermont and Central Arkansas round out the four-team field.
