BOSTON -- The America East conference announced Sunday that senior midfielder Hillary Mefferd (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) and senior defensive back Lia Barros (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline), of the University of New Hampshire women’s soccer team, were named to the America East All-Championship Team for their efforts in the conference tournament.
On Oct. 27, in the first round match-up against Binghamton University, Barros played center back and played a huge role in the team’s shutout.  She also converted her penalty kick in the shootout which helped lift UNH into the semifinals.
Mefferd, a tri-captain, continued her solid play from the regular season throughout the tournament, guiding her team to its fifth straight semifinal appearance.
Both Mefferd and Barros made appearances in the semifinal round of the America East Championships all four years as members of the Wildcats.
Mefferd started all 18 games for the Wildcats this season and was named an All-Conference Second Team member.  Barros also started all 18 games for the Wildcats and was a major contributor to the team’s stingy defense which recorded seven shutouts en route to a 6-11-1 overall record.
