SHEEHAN LANDS CONFERENCE HONOR FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Tuesday that junior forward Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass.) has been named America East Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 7.

Sheehan scored two goals this past week, including an insurance goal in UNH’s 2-0 win versus UMBC on Oct. 4, and her conference-leading fourth game-winning goal of the season in the Wildcats’ 3-0 shutout of Albany on Oct. 7

This marks the second America East Player of the Week honor this season for Sheehan, who also won the award for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 3 when she scored two goals at the UVM TD Banknorth Classic and was named Offensive MVP and was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Sheehan leads the conference in points (16) and owns a share of the lead in goals (7).

Sheehan shares this week’s honor with Stony Brook University goalkeeper Marisa Viola, who posted two more shutouts to extend her scoreless streak to 634 minutes, 37 seconds.

UNH (7-4-1, 3-0-0) plays its next game Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. when Sheehan and the rest of the ‘Cats hit the road to take aim at Stony Brook and the sophomore’s scoreless streak.
