DURHAM, N.H. – The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced Thursday that Sara Hourihan (Lynnfield, Mass.), a senior forward on the University of New Hampshire women’s soccer team, was named to the Academic All-District Third Team for District 1 women’s soccer.
Hourihan has been stellar in the classroom with a 3.66 grade point average and been equally impressive on the field this season for the Wildcats as she led the team in both goals (7) and points (16).
However, success in the classroom is nothing new to the kinesiology: exercise science major, as she has been named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll list in each of the last three seasons. In addition, last year she was also awarded the UNH women’s soccer Student-Athlete Award, which is presented for having the highest grade point average during the traditional season of competition.
Hourihan wraps up her collegiate career tied for fifth all-time on UNH’s career goals (26) and points (58) lists. In 2005 Hourihan was named America East Rookie of the Year and was also named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team after breaking UNH’s rookie scoring record with 26 points. Hourihan also set a UNH rookie record by scoring an impressive 12 goals, a mark that led the team that season.
