Durham, N.H. - Kary Goodman (South Windham, Maine) and Shana Dege (Lockport, N.Y.) have been named America East Swimming Performers of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Goodman competed in last weekend's Brown Invitational at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She placed first ahead of 23 other swimmers in the 200-butterfly at 2 minutes 4.17 seconds, setting a New Hampshire school record. Goodman was first ahead of 22 swimmers in the 200-backstroke at 2:03.68. She finished second in the 100-fly at 56.67, also a New Hampshire school record.
Dege competed in the Springfield Invitational at Springfield College in Massachusetts along with other divers from Springfield, New York University, Fairfield, Amherst, Clark and Worcester Poly Tech. She took first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive. In the 1-meter, she performed 11 dives to earn a score of 406.35. In the 3-meter, she also performed 11 dives for a score of 422.10.
New Hampshire (5-1, 2-1 AE) return to the pool on January 16 to face off against Northeastern.
