DURHAM, N.H.- Joshua Willman, head coach of the University of New Hampshire’s women’s swimming and diving team, has announced the hiring of Jarrod Zwirko as assistant swim coach, effective June 1.

Zwirko, a 2004 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, was a two-year captain for the Wildcats, specializing in middle-distance and still holds two UNH records for relays. As an athlete Zwirko was an 11-time finalist at the America East championships and was runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle in 2002. Zwirko also served as SAAC President as an undergraduate and was twice nominated for UNH Athlete of the Year.

Upon completion of his eligibility, Jarrod entered the graduate program at UNH and earned his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology. During this time, he served as the graduate assistant for the UNH swim team and was an integral part of the staff that twice earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors for winning back-to-back America East Championship titles. His last season, UNH took two women to the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships.

After completing his Master’s, Zwirko joined the staff at his former prep school, the Williston Northampton School in western Massachusetts. There he served for the past two years as an English teacher and swim coach. Most recently his team won the New England championships in the small school division.
