WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD SHARP AT WILDCAT INVITATIONAL I

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) submitted a pair of first-place finishes to highlight the day for the University of New Hampshire women's outdoor track & field team as it hosted the non-scoring Wildcat Invitational I at the Reggie F. Atkins Track on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats were joined at the meet by intrastate rival Dartmouth College, Northeastern University, the College of the Holy Cross and America East foes the University of Vermont and the University of Maine.

Lathrop won the discus throw by nearly 17 feet after a toss of 41.29 meters. Lathrop also earned a victory in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.17m, while freshman Rosemary Read (West Greenwhich, R.I.) placed third at 46.92m.

Senior Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) was the Wildcats' other field event winner as she remained unbeaten in the pole vault through three meets in the outdoor season. Ciambra won the event by nearly a foot and a half after clearing a height of 3.85m.

Senior Tayla Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) produced a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles as she crossed the finish line in 15.06 – just seven-hundredths of a second ahead of the runner up. Junior Kate Early (Corning, N.Y.) was fourth in 15.98. Early also placed third in the high jump after a leap of 1.62m, which tied for the highest in the event. Early took more jumps to reach the mark, however.

Junior Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) grabbed second in the 1500m, missing out on first by 41-hundredths of a second after completing the run in 4:34.41.

Classmate Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H.) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.65m. Junior Meghan McGrath (Merrimack, N.H.), freshman Melanie Frazier (Bridgewater, Mass.), sophomore Eliza Mackintosh (Hanover, N.H.) and junior Kaitlyn Dugan (Hatfield, Pa.) finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, with marks of 5.55m, 5.46m, 5.44m and 5.29m.

Junior Megan Donohue (Stratham, N.H.) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:04.13, while McGrath was fourth in 1:07.96.The Wildcats finished second in the 4x100-meter relay in 48.67. The 4x400 squad was third in a time of four minutes, 2.78 seconds.

In the 400m, senior Amanda Hutchins (Plymouth, N.H.) and freshman Meredith Long (Concord, N.H.) placed third and fourth, respectively, in times of 1:02.24 and 1:02.51.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, junior Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.), freshman Elizabeth Campbell (Colonia, N.J.) and senior Amanda Rusilas (Charlton, N.Y.) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in times of 11:38.76, 11:58.24 and 11:59.14.

Junior Jasmin Washington (Waltham, Mass.) and Hutchins were third and fourth, respectively, in the triple jump with marks of 10.95m and 10.92m.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 10 at 11 a.m. as they host the Wildcat Invitational II right back at the Reggie F. Atkins Track.
