PRINCETON, N.J. -- Senior Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) was one of three athletes to win an event as the University of New Hampshire women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 16-17 at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.
Lathrop won the hammer throw with a toss of 55.51 meters, while freshman Rosemary Read (West Greenwhich, R.I.) and senior Kate Ouhrabka (East Greenwhich, R.I.) placed fifth and 12th, respectively, with marks of 48.80m and 39.42m. Lathrop was also ninth in the discus at 35.37m.
Junior Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) ran to victory in the 3000m as she crossed the finish line in a time of 10 minutes, 13.27 seconds.
Junior Camille Quarles (Derry, N.H) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.65m. Classmate Meghan McGrath (Merrimack, N.H.), freshman Melanie Frazier (Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Eliza Mackintosh (Hanover, N.H.) were fifth, seventh and 12th, respectively, with marks of 5.44m, 5.37m and 5.13m.
Quarles was also fourth in the triple jump at 11.86m. Mackintosh, junior Jasmin Washington (Waltham, Mass.) and senior Amanda Hutchins (Plymouth, N.H.) placed eighth, 12th and 14th, respectively, with leaps of 11.37m, 11.03m or 10.58m.
The Wildats' 4x400-meter relay team of juniors Megan Donohue (Stratham, N.H.), Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) and Brittany Verville (Bow, N.H.), as well as freshman Allison Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.), finished fourth in a time of 3:57.33. The 4x100 squad of senior Tayla Ryan (Norwood, Mass.), junior Chelsey Canavan (Stoneham, Mass.), sophomore Elizabeth Adejuyigbe (Penacook, N.H.) and Brehm was fifth at 49.47.
Ryan placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.34.
Letourneau finished 10th in the 62-runner 1500m, completing the event in 4:33.22.
Brehm was 11th in the 100m in 12.81, while Canavan was also 11th in the 400m in 58.11.
In the 800m, senior Tracy Howell (Grafton, Mass.) and freshmen Darcy James (Exeter, N.H.) and Meredith Long (Concord, N.H.) finished 10th, 13th and 30th, respectively, in times of 2:16.61, 2:18.20 and 2:22.50.
Frazier and McGrath finished 32nd and 33rd, respectively, in the 200m in times of 26.84 and 27.02.
Verville was 38th in the 800m in a time of 2:19.58.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. when they play host to the Wildcat Invitational III at the Reggie F. Atkins track.
