TRACK & FIELD'S LATHROP ADVANCES TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS ON DAY TWO OF EAST REGIONAL
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior
Ashlee
Lathrop (Sherburne, N.Y.) used an 11th-place finish in
the women's hammer throw to catapult her into the NCAA
Championships as the University of New Hampshire outdoor track
& field team competed at day two of the NCAA East Regional at
North Carolina A&T State University's Irwin Bell Track on
Friday.
Lathrop's throw of 56.45 meters advanced her to the NCAA finals
June 9-12 at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene,
Ore.
Classmate Rita
Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) finished 21st in the pole
vault as she cleared a height of 3.75m.
On the men's side, senior Brice Paey (Milton,
N.H.) placed 22nd in the shot put with a toss of 17.35m.
Senior Matt O'Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) was 29th
in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of nine minutes, 6.48
seconds.
The Wildcats do not compete on Saturday and return to action when Lathrop represents them at the NCAA final.
