CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire women's outdoor track and field senior Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) was named America East Track Performer of the Week, while on the men's side, graduate student Paul DeTurk (Durham, NH) picked up America East Field Performer of the Week accolades, announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Jesseman finished second in the 5,000 meters at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational at Princeton over the weekend, setting a new school record in the event with a time of 16:51.24. The senior's time is the best in the event for an America East runner this season.
DeTurk, the defending America East champion in the hammer throw, placed fourth out of 27 competitors in the event at the Sam Howell Invitational with a toss of 59.93 meters. The mark by the graduate student is the best in America East play so far this outdoor season.
Jesseman, DeTurk and the rest of the UNH track & field team return to action on Saturday, April 9 when both sides play host to Holy Cross, Maine and Northeastern in a quad-meet at the Reggie F. Atkins Track & Field Facility.
