Track and Field Concludes Day One at NCAA East Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Graduate student Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) and seniors Mike Simon (Durham, Conn.) and Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) all competed for the University of New Hampshire outdoor track & field team on day one of the NCAA East Regional on Thursday at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.

Ciambra finished 24th in the women's pole vault with a cleared height of 3.70m.

Jesseman finished 27th in the women's 10,000m, crossing the finish line in a time of 34:30.30 which set a new school record. Jesseman also broke the school record in the 5,000m earlier this season.

Simon placed 46th in the men's javelin with a toss of 49.96m.

Junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) also competed in the 10,000m event.

The Wildcats return to action Friday, May 27 for day two of the NCAA East Regional. Graduate student Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) will throw the hammer at 11 a.m. while senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at 8:30 p.m.
