Women's Track & Field Kicks Off ECAC Championships; Perrodin Sets School Record
BOSTON – Freshman Lauren Perrodin (Coral Springs, Fla.) set a school record in the 60 meters as select members of the University of New Hampshire women's indoor track & field team took part in the second day of the ECAC Championships on Saturday at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
Perrodin advanced to the semifinals of the 60-meter dash but just missed qualifying for the finals with a record-breaking time of 7.65 for 11th place. Perrodin broke her own mark of 7.66 set last week at the New England Championships. The rookie also tied the school record in the 55 meters earlier this season with a time of 7.21 in a dual meet against Maine.
Junior Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) finished 16th overall in the 5,000 meters with a personal best time of 17:00.63. Beattie was runner-up in the event at the America East Championships and was a member of the school record-breaking distance medley relay team at last week's New England Championships.
The Wildcats' 4x800 meter relay team of sophomore Caroline Hammond (Lexington, Mass.), freshmen Cassie Kruse (Hampshire, Ill.), junior Julia Credendino (Islip, N.Y.) and junior Madeline Allen (Lenox, Mass.) placed 15th in a time of 9:35.47.
The Wildcats will wrap up the ECACs on Sunday at the Track & Tennis Center.
