Women's Track & Field Secures Fifth Place at America East Championships

VESTAL, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team finished in fifth place at the America East Championships, held at Binghamton University. The team finished with 105.5 points.

Albany finished in first place after totaling 245 points while Binghamton finished second with 136 points. Vermont took bronze as it scored 109.5 points while UMBC claimed fourth with 108 points. Maine (84), Stony Brook (36) and Hartford (34) rounded out the remainder of the field.

In the 4x800 relay, Madeline Allen (Lenox, Mass.), Julia Credendino (Islip, N.Y.), Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.) and Cassandra Kruse (Hampshire, Ill.) took earned a silver medal with a time of 9:08.22.

Stephanie Walsh (Penacook, N.H.) took second place in the discus throw, hitting a mark of 40.80 meters. Taylor Ordway (Plaistow, N.H.) also took silver in the javelin throw heptathlon, clearing a distance of 31.98 meters.

Twombly earned bronze in the 800 meter run as she crossed the line with a time of 2:09.65. Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) took third place in the 1,500 meter run after crossing the line with a time of 4:28.46. Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) also claimed third place in the 5,000 meter run. She broke the plane with a time 17:31.50.
