DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire track and field program is now accepting registrations for its 2013 Distance Running Day Camp (July 21-24) and its Track and Field Day Camp (July 28-Aug. 1). The day camps will take place at the Reginald Atkins Track (outdoor) and Paul Sweet Oval (indoor) at the UNH Field House.
Male and female athletes in grades 7-12 will learn the fundamentals of technique and training. Athletes are expected to come prepared to participate with their own shorts and shoes, including track spikes (optional). Other implements will be provided, though campers can bring their own implements. All runners will learn from one of the most successful track and field programs in New England in one of the best indoor and outdoor track and field facilities in the northeast. A certified athletic trainer will be available at all sessions.
The distance running day camp consists of middle distance, distance and cross country training from Sunday, July 21, to Wednesday, July 24. Camp times are 4-7 p.m. daily, with registration scheduled for 3:30-4 p.m. on the first day. Pre-registration for the distance running camp is $150 until July 20. The track and field camp consists of sprints, jumps, hurdles and throws from Sunday, July 28, to Thursday, Aug. 1.
